Because the Pay It First website is so new, there are very few stories to read at this time. For now, below are some of the stories that have come in so far. As we get more stories you will be able to search for your card number or search cities and locations for stories.

Sharon - CLyde, Texas

During Clyde’s City-wide garage sale, I needed to visit the bank for some change. As I was sitting in the drive-thru, one of the employees walked up to the car and asked us if we would like some free cookies. We accepted and asked the reason for handing out free cookies. She then gave me the little Pay It First card and explained it to me. As the day went on and we visited more garage sales, I had completely forgotten about the card. Then Sunday afternoon driving back from Abilene I noticed an old man carrying probably everything he owned on his back. On my way to the grocery store, I passed that old man sitting on the side of the road. When I got to the grocery store, I looked down and saw my free cookie and the red card. I went inside the store and bought my groceries plus a sandwich, a bottle of water, and a cookie. I drove back to where he was sitting, rolled down my window, gave the bag to him and said "here's supper". He thanked me so many times and as I drove away, and I noticed the big smile on his face. I did not give him my card, I still have it as a reminder that we should all pitch in and help those in need because there are more people out there that are in need than some of us. Thank you so much.

Marisa - Hawley, Texas

Every year for Mother’s Day I take my mom to shop garage sales, her favorite thing to do. This year Clyde, Texas was having a city-wide garage sale the weekend before Mother’s Day. Mom and I drove to Clyde for a wonderful day of bargains galore. At one garage sale, a lady offered us a bag of Grandma’s peanut butter cookies (the best cookies ever), along with a card that said "You've been hit by a random act of kindness! Now it is your turn to do something with no strings attached!" When I got this card and read it, it gave me the chills. It made me remember the wonderful movie Pay It Forward. I am not sure yet what I am going to do to pay it forward; I am just going to look and listen to my heart. This touched my heart and I would love to touch the hearts of others. What a great idea!

Shawna – Abernathy, Texas

I received this card at a Sonic. The first dollar of my drink was paid. Since I was there during their 1/2 price drink time, my drink was FREE to me! It was a great day and I am very thankful. I paid it forward by giving a friend an unexpected CA$H gift! She was about to travel out of state and is always running low on money. I'd missed her birthday, Christmas and I just wanted to do something nice and GOOD FOR HER! She cried! I cried, too! She was so happy and so grateful!

I went to get my car washed one Saturday afternoon when I was met at my window by a nice woman. She told me after I got my car washed that if I wanted to get my car vacuumed, they would do it for free! She handed me my card and told me about the Pay It First program. I couldn't wait to tell my friends and family what an awesome idea it was. I can only imagine how amazing the world would be if there were more programs like this one.

Christian – Abilene, Texas

I received my card from Coach Beacon at school. It was after I had been in a rush, like usual, to get to school in time. I just put it in my binder. I left it there for a while. Then this weekend I was cleaning out my binder and there it was. I decided I should pass it along after I helped a couple find their sunglasses at the track meet. This is awesome! I'm excited y'all started this and hope that it spreads like wild fire.

Bonnie – Tuscola, Texas

I received my card during a religious retreat. It was given to me by a very inspirational young lady that I respect. She really impressed me with her desire to "pay it first" and pass it on. I have passed it on.

Garrett – Agoura Hills, California

I was doing laundry at my condo's laundry room and I was slow getting my clothes out of the dryer because I was having some girl drama and a long conversation. When I finally made it to the laundry room I saw my whites very neatly folded on the dryer. The person who folded the clothes could have very easily just taken the clothes out and threw them on top of the dryer. So, thank you whoever you are, you made my day!

I was at Sonic and a 1st Financial employee came up and gave me the card and said I was getting $1 off my order, I just had to do something nice for someone else and pass the card. I was there getting drinks and snacks for my fellow coworkers so I decided my "something nice" was to not let them pay me back when I got back to the office. I am forwarding the card to the one that asked me to go to Sonic.

Ok, well my best friend had left work to run an office errand and I called her cell phone to ask if she would grab me a snack at sonic because I had not eaten lunch. She was so sweet to get me something and then she gave me this pay it first card. I think this is a really neat idea and I plan on using it this evening. I have the greatest idea.

I went to Sonic to get a Dr. Pepper. When I got there a lady came up to the car and handed me the Pay It First card and said that they were taking a dollar off my total bill. She said all I had to do was do something nice for someone in return. I'm thinking of something I can do for someone and will share my story once I've done it.

Today I went to Sonic right after a job interview to get a cherry lime slush during Sonic's happy hour. A Pay It First team member came up to my car, handed me the card, and told me that they were paying so that all customers could get a dollar off their order. I got my slush for free! Getting a free slush just brightened my whole day. Can't wait to spread the love!!

I was off today which is not usual because I work 6 days a week. I was just stopping by to get a drink and one of your team members came over and told me that my order was paid for and told me about pay it first. I usually try to live that way everyday.... I will continue to do the small things for people: open doors at the store, smile at somebody and sincerely ask how are they or hello, listen intently to people's stories and continue to tell my two daughters that they should do the same. :) thank you so much!!!!!!

3/5/2008

Sal

I was at Sonic one afternoon and I ordered a route 44 drink, it was surprising when the car hop came over and said all that I owed was five cents, then the pay it first team member told me that they had paid for my drink, handed me a card and only asked that I help someone out in return.

I was going to put gas in my husband's car for him. Something I usually don't do... Imagine my surprise when I pulled up to the gas pump, and a young enthusiastic girl said she'd pump the gas for me-for free! She was working with First Financial to pay it forward. I really appreciated it!

Cristi - Abilene, Texas

My family and I were at McDonalds on Judge Ely in the drive thru when a lady in front of us paid for our order. I thought that was really nice. I wish people would do things daily for people everywhere, no matter what. I'm thankful for that woman I will never know who it is but I want to say thank you. And God bless..
